Shawn Lehr, Conguero

Shawn was born in Gloversville and lived with his parents prior to moving in with friends in a house supported by Lexington. Diagnosed with Down syndrome shortly after birth, he experienced delays in his speech and other cognitive functions. Doctors told his parents that he would never really be able to speak. If only they could see him now!

Shawn graduated from the Life Skills program offered by the Gloversville School District in 1991. He worked at a Lexington workshop earlier in his career and now does regular volunteer work through his day habilitation program and is a member of Flame.

Since joining the band, Shawn has become very talkative and loves to interact with people. He expresses himself through his performance. His charm, humor and rhythm add to the band’s appeal.

When Shawn is not performing with Flame or working, he enjoys watching TV, listening to music, playing video games, fishing, watching movies, bowling and camping. Shawn is a huge fan of pro wrestling and his favorite wrestler is Stone Cold Steve Austin.
