David was born in Gloversville, NY, and spent his early years at home before growing up in foster care. At 14, he began attending the New York School for the Blind in Batavia, NY, where he first discovered his love for drumming. Even then, some doubted his dreams—one counselor wrote that David’s goals were too big, saying he would never be in a band or release CDs. But David never let that stop him.
After graduating, he returned to Fulton County and moved into a home supported by Lexington in Gloversville. His dream of making music became a reality in 2003 when Flame was formed. David played a key role in creating the band, even coming up with the name “Flame” to honor the Special Olympics torch, a symbol of hope and inspiration.
Despite being blind, David has an extraordinary talent for drumming, and he shares that gift with every performance. He is also a natural vocalist, capable of creating masterful harmonies for any song. David’s passion, talent, and perseverance inspire everyone who experiences his music.
