Michelle King, Lead Vocals & Guitar

“Michelle is better than 99% of the lead singers in 99% of the local bands 100% of the time.” – Metroland Magazine

By the time Michelle was 3 years old, her mother knew she had a special talent. Michelle would run up on stage at her mother’s workplace and sing into a microphone. At that time, Michelle’s speech was very limited except when she was singing. A doctor told her mom that she had autism and was intellectually disabled and would probably never be able to have normal conversations. Lexington’s speech therapy team worked closely with Michelle to improve her language skills and she has become one of the most expressive, outgoing stage performers around, connecting with audiences like no one else.

In 1993, Michelle and her mother moved to Gloversville from New York City. In 2003, Michelle won a talent show at Lexington and expressed her interest in starting a band, which led to the creation of Flame.

Michelle amazes and inspires people of all ages with her incredible voice and guitar playing. She has a great ability to understand and quickly figure out musical instruments and songs. Music is a big part of Michelle’s life. When not performing with Flame, she does solo shows at various local venues and events. She also gives guitar lessons and enjoys listening to music and going to concerts. Her beautiful voice and tremendous range allow her to sing rock, blues, country and pop classics with ease. Lady Gaga is one of her biggest musical heroes.

Michelle said, “Flame and Lexington have helped me make a difference in the lives of other people.”
